Project Start: 600 Decares, 52 Valves
MAREM is a research institute that develops modern fruit growing techniques. They grow fruit species such as apples, pears, and cherries on their extensive 600-decare lands. However, the irrigation system spread over this large area was creating serious challenges.

The institute's existing infrastructure:
- 52 irrigation valves
- 4 pump stations
- 1 large-capacity pool
- Dozens of different irrigation lines
Challenges Brought by the Manual System
In our meetings with the institute officials, the problems they encountered were clearly revealed:
Time loss: A personnel was spending a large part of the day opening and closing valves. Even going from one end of the field to the other took quite a bit of time.
Other problems:
- Inability to know water consumption exactly
- Inability to track how much each region was irrigated
- Late detection of pump failures
- Manual control of the pool level

Priorities were determined in the planning meetings we held with the institute management. They wanted to be able to manage everything remotely, track water consumption, and create automatic irrigation programs.

Equipment Integrated into the System
Measurement and control system:
- 49 water meters with pulse output (separate measurement for each irrigation line)
- 6 soil moisture sensors (collecting data from different regions)
- 1 pool level sensor
- 1 pressure sensor (pipeline control)
Smart control infrastructure:
- Remote control modules for 52 valves
- 4 pump station integrations
- Wireless data communication (LoRa technology)
- Central control unit
Installation Process
Our project team carried out an installation that lasted 3 weeks. The most challenging part was including the equipment spread over a wide area into the wireless network. Thanks to LoRa technology, even our furthest valve was securely connected to the center.


Daily Use: Now Everything is on the Phone
The institute personnel now manage all irrigation operations from the esular mobile application.

The most valuable gain for the institute: Every irrigation, every measurement is recorded. A rich data set has been created for research projects. They can compare the effects of different irrigation methods with concrete data.
How Does the System Work?
1. Planning: An irrigation program is created from the mobile application. It is determined which valve will stay open at what time and for how long.
2. Automatic Operation: The system automatically activates the valves and pumps at the designated time.
3. Instant Monitoring: Water consumption, pressure values, and soil moisture are tracked instantly from the mobile application.
4. Notifications: In case of any abnormality (pressure drop, excessive water consumption), the system sends an automatic warning.

Early Warning Thanks to the Pressure Sensor
The pressure sensors used within the scope of the project automatically detect pressure anomaly situations in the irrigation lines. In case of a possible leak or malfunction, the system stops the relevant line to prevent water loss and sends an instant notification to the user. Thus, both water savings are achieved and the opportunity for rapid intervention in malfunctions is offered.
Cost Analysis
Thanks to water meters, the consumption of each region is now known. The institute management can make budget planning much more soundly. They can see in detail how much cost occurred in which season and in which region.
